COLUMBUS, Ohio – This week, members of the Ohio State women’s tennis team are competing in tournaments both in California and South Carolina.
Tuesday, sophomore Gabriella De Santis and freshman Francesca Di Lorenzo open play in the 2015 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. In the qualifying singles draw, De Santis will face Skylar Kuykendall of LSU and Di Lorenzo will take on Lucia Butkovska of Portland, with both matches scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. Players must win three matches to advance out of qualifying to the main draw.

Sophomore Anna Sanford competed in The Shipyard Cup in Hilton Head, S.C., an ITF Pro Circuit event. Sanford posted a 6-2, 6-4 win in the first round of qualifying Sunday before dropping her second round match.
Last week in the LTP Charleston (S.C.) 10k, an ITF Pro Circuit event, Di Lorenzo advanced to the quarterfinals of the clay court tournament before withdrawing to head to California as the tournament was delayed because of weather. In the main draw round of 32 against Laetitia Sarrazin of France, Di Lorenzo dropped the first set in a tiebreaker before not losing another game, for a 6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-0 victory. Di Lorenzo then won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, in the round of 16. In doubles, Di Lorenzo and her partner posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the round of 16.
