Venechanos Announces 2016 Recruiting Class – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State head coach Alexis Venechanos has welcomed in a talented crop of newcomers this fall as the Buckeyes begin preparations for the 2016 season. This year’s freshman class is comprised of 11 student-athletes from five different states: New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut and Texas.
“We welcome a very elite and accomplished group to Columbus,” Venechanos said. “They are a group of positive, hard-working student-athletes and will complement our existing squad very well. I love their energy and I am excited they are here.”
The class consists of Alyssa Amorison (Huntington, N.Y.), Meg Camden (Downington, Pa.), Sara Dickinson (Wilton, Conn.), Hannah Gantt (Houston, Texas), Erika Keselman (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck), Caroline Mackrides (Newton Square, Pa.), Mackenzie Maring (Penfield, N.Y.), Avery Murphy, (Paoli, Pa.), Erin Nagle (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), Baley Parrott (Airmont, N.Y.) and Paige Postalwait, (Baldwinsville, N.Y.).

A five-year letterwinner and a two-time captain for the Huntington Blue Devils … four-time Brine All-American … three-time Suffolk All-Division player … named one of 100 Players to Watch by Newsday in 2015 … recorded 18 goals and 31 assists as a senior, 30 goals and 16 assists as a junior, 14 goals and 32 assists as a sophomore, 17 goals and 17 assists as a freshman and 11 goals and six assists as an eighth grader on the varsity … played for Team Elevate for six years where she was named MVP in 2014 … 2015 Under Armour All-America Senior Showcase nominee.

A four-year starter for Wilton … helped the team to a state championship in 2014 and runner-up finishes in 2012, 2013 and 2015 … 2014 and 2015 MSG Varsity All-Connecticut and Norwalk Hour All-Area Girls Lacrosse Team selection … recorded a team-high 62 goals and 22 assists as a senior, 42 goals and 74 total points as a junior and 24 assists and 55 total points as a sophomore … 2014 and 2015 First Team All-State and All-Fairfield Country Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) … played in the 2015 Under Armour Uncommitted games … was a member of the 2013 New Jersey Brine Lacrosse All-American team that was a national finalist … member of the CT Grizzlies Elite Lacrosse club team from 2009-15 … a four-year scholar-athlete and a member of the National Honor Society … also lettered two years on the basketball team and volunteered at numerous lacrosse and basketball youth clinics while in high school.

A two-year starter for Lamar … 2015 US Lacrosse All-American … as a captain in 2015, she led the team in scoring in 2015 and was a first-team all-state selection … as a junior in 2014, she scored 40 goals and recorded 31 ground balls, 29 draw controls and 8 assists … helped her team to a city championship and a state runner-up … also lettered four years on the track and field and cross country teams at Lamar … three-year member of the Texas Rangers club team … member of the National Honor Society and Lone Star Society.

Four-year starter for Colts Neck … left as the most prolific scorer in Freehold Regional High School District history with 351 career goals and 130 assists for 481 career points … 2015 First Team All-Shore, team captain and MVP as a senior in 2015 … 2015 News Transcript Co-Female Athlete of the Year … Brine All-American … recorded a school-record and Shore Conference-best 119 goals, 54 assists and 128 draw controls as a senior … helped the Cougars to a 16-5 record and the Shore Conference B North Division title … became the program’s first team to reach the Shore Conference Tournament (SCT) semifinals … also lettered four years on the soccer team, helping the team to a state championship as a senior … National Honor Society member … sister, Hallie, played for the Buckeyes from 2012-15.

A four-year starter of the Penfield Patriots … a four-time New York State scholar-athlete award winner and three-time All Monroe County selection … 2015 Team MVP, captain and Academic All-American … also lettered three years on the soccer team at Penfield, where she was team captain, MVP and a two-time all-county selection … National Honor Society member and a four-year honor roll student … Monroe County Youth Citizen of the Year recipient.
