Miho Kowase

Major: Communications
Miho Kowase is a sophomore on the Ohio State women’s tennis team. A native of Tokyo, Japan, she was a First Team All-Big Ten selection as a freshman after tallying 25 singles wins in her first year of collegiate tennis. An Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, she reached the quarterfinals of the ITA Midwest Regional Main Draw and was ranked by the ITA in the fall.
Student Life
Do you prefer Oval Beach in the Fall or Spring (or maybe the Winter)? – I would say fall (or summer), I love when the trees are all green.
Where is the best place to sit for lectures? – At the very side of the classroom.
Most underrated place to study on campus – Thompson Library!
Why did you choose to major in communication? I think it’s something I will need in order to get a good job.
If you were the University President for a day, what would you do? – I would probably give all students no classes for a day.
Describe your first day as a student at The Ohio State University? – I just thought the campus is too big! Didn’t know where I was and which way to go.

Team you’re most looking forward to competing against – Michigan… Go Bucks!
Pre-game/match superstition/Pre-game/match ritual – I don’t really have a specific ritual, but I always try to eat well and sleep well.
What is your top skill? What skill do you need to improve? – I would say backhand is my favorite. I need to improve many things but I guess it all comes from my mental.
Travel
Most interesting place I’ve visited – Italy, Brazil and Thailand. Their food is amazing!
Place I would like to visit – I would love to visit Greece and Peru.

Favorite home cooked meal – Whatever my mom cooks.
Favorite snack food – Dark chocolate and craisins.

Person I most admire – My parents and my sister.
In 10 years, I would like to be – I don’t know exactly, but I just hope I would be happy with my life.
If I had a million dollars, I would – Travel all around the world and eat whatever I want!
Coolest thing you did this past summer – Visited my sister in Athens and watched her last tennis match ever.
Most prized possession – The varsity jacket from OSU.
I would like to trade places for a day with – Roger Federer.
Best piece of advice you’ve received – “Just have fun whatever you do.”
If you could have dinner with any 3 people (alive or dead), who would they be and what/where would you eat – Taylor Swift, Ellen DeGeneres and Ichiro Suzuki. I would love to have some Japanese food with them!
Dream event (non-sport or sport-related) you would like to attend – Olympic Games!
Who tweets too much on your team – Hmm no one really tweets that much…..
Do you have an interesting nickname? – “Mija” or “Miho chan”.
What is your hometown known for? – My hometown doesn’t have many things to be known for, but my prefecture has a Disney Land and is known for good peanuts!
