The majority of the road match was scoreless until the Flyers (4-3-1) scored the lone goal of the match with less than ten minutes to go in regulation to earn the non-conference victory against the Buckeyes (2-3-3). Overall, shots were 11-10 in favor of the Scarlet and Gray, while Dayton held a 5-3 advantage in corners. Senior goalkeeper Alex Ivanov falls to 2-3-3 overall, collecting five saves. Ryan Peterson scored the lone goal of the contest at 83:46 with a solid finish from the left side of the net at seven yards out. Amass Amankona set up the goal-scoring play with a timely through ball from the far side. With a few seconds to go on the clock, the Buckeyes had a last second chance to claim an equalizer with a free kick within striking distance from the near sideline. However, a deflected ball went wide of the far post to end the game. The first half just saw a combined three shots on goal, but the Buckeyes had some good looks at net. Sophomore Danny Jensen had a shot on target during the 15th minute, but could not generate enough pace on the ball to get it by Dayton goalkeeper Chris Froschauer. Freshman forward Marcus McCrary had only the keeper to beat but his shot went wide of the far post in the 27th. Following a Flyer corner, the Buckeyes went on the counterattack in the 37th, but could not generate a shot with a 2-on-1 opportunity. Ohio State will now begin a four-game stretch that includes three games against Top 20 ranked opponents. The Buckeyes travel to play No. 9 Louisville at 7:30 p.m. ET Tuesday at Lynn Stadium.
