COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State Women’s Volleyball gets the Big Ten slate started this week with road trips to take on #17 Minnesota and #5 Wisconsin on Wednesday (Sept. 24) and Sunday (Sept. 28), respectively. Both matches can be viewed online by BTN Plus subscribers.

THE BIG TEN GAUNTLET
Six Big Ten teams are ranked in this week’s AVCA Division I Coaches Poll, including No. 3 Penn State, No. 5 Wisconsin, No. 8 Nebraska, No.15 Purdue, No. 16 Illinois and No. 17 Minnesota. In addition, Michigan State and Northwestern are receiving votes.
BUCKEYES GETTING HOT ENTERING CONFERENCE PLAY
Ohio State wrapped up non-conference play by claiming the Miami Inivtational crown and winning eight of its last nine matches overall. Senior setter Taylor Sherwin was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Miami Invitational after averaging 11.60 assists and 2.50 digs per set. Katie Mitchell and Erin Sekinger joined Sherwin on the all-tournament team in Oxford. In marked the second straight weekend for Sekinger after being tabbed to the All-Millennium Hotel Invitational squad a week earlier.
HAVE YOURSELF A DAY
Saturday, Sept. 20 was one to remember for Katie Mitchell and Erin Sekinger. Not only did the Buckeyes clinch the Miami Invitational title with a pair of wins, but both Buckeyes racked up kills total that rank tops in the Big Ten thus far this season. Sekinger pounded 22 kills vs. IUPUI, the most in a three set match by a B1G player, and Mitchell came back in the night cap with 25 put-aways versus the RedHawks (tied for the most in a four-setter by at B1G player this season).
DOUBLING UP
Freshman Luisa Schirmer is contributing on both sides of the net, evidenced by her team-high four double-doubles this season with 10 or more kills and digs in each. Taylor Sherwin has three double-doubles of her own, adding double-digit digs to her assists totals. Erin Sekinger posted her first career double-dub, going off for 22 kills and 11 digs in a three-set sweep over IUPUI last Saturday.
