COLUMBUS, Ohio – After totaling a 282 in their third and final round Monday, the Ohio State men’s golf team concluded the 18th Windon Memorial Classic with a second place finish. Led by Clark Engle and Grant Weaver, the Buckeyes carded a 7-over 847 total at the Evanston Golf Club in Skokie, Ill. The result is the Buckeyes’ best since finishing second at the Northwestern Spring Invitational in April 2013.
Engle, a sophomore from Springfield, Ohio, shot 209 (-1) overall to tie for fourth place. It marks Engle’s best career finish. Redshirt junior Grant Weaver also finished the tournament tied for fourth with a 1-under 209. The Wooster, Ohio, native carded a 69 (-1) on the final day to move up the leaderboard and recorded 10 birdies over the course of the tournament. It’s his third career top-5 finish and his personal best since placing third at the Northwestern Spring Invitational his sophomore season.
Senior Boo Timko concluded the tournament at 4-over (214) and tied for 23rd – his second top-25 finish of the year and 21st overall as a Buckeye.
Additionally, Logan Jones, who competed individually, registered an impressive 66 on Monday as he finished tied for 17th at 3-over (213). The redshirt junior from Dublin, Ohio, moved up 31 spots after his 4-under final round.
Tee-k Kelly put up a top-30 finish as he earned a share of 29th place after carding scores of 75-71-70.
Freshman Josh Wick finished tied for 59th with scores of 74-73-75 for a 12-over 222.
California captured the tournament title and broke their own Windon Memorial record of a single round score with a 270. Their overall score of 834 also breaks the tournament record of 843 set in 2008 by Illinois.
