EVANSTON, Ill. – Sophomore Clark Engle and the Ohio State men’s golf team are tied for second place after 36 holes at The Windon Memorial Classic. Engle fired back-to-back rounds of 69 to go 2-under par and earn a share of second on the individual leaderboard. The Buckeyes, meanwhile, trail by just a lone stroke entering Monday’s final round after posting scores of 284-281 (+5) on Day One.
Ohio State is locked up with Michigan for second, one back from the tournament-leading Cal Bears (+4).
Grant Weaver and Josh Wick each contributed two scores to the team tally as Engle did. Weaver is tied for seventh place overall with rounds of 72-68 (E). Wick owns a piece of 48th place, finishing plus-7 (74-71).
Boo Timko opened the morning by matching Engle’s 69 before coming back with a 73 in his second trip around the course. With 18 holes to go, Timko is within range of the individual top-10 entering Monday T-18th at 2-over (69-73). Tee-k Kelly trimmed four strokes off his first round 75, posting a 71 in round number two. Logan Jones, playing as an individual, matched Wick at 7-over and shares 48th place.
Timko and Weaver each accumulated seven birdies on the day to rank in the field’s top-10. Par 4’s were very kind to Engle today, shooting 3-under on such holes to lead the field.
