Cassidy Clough, a second basemen/shortstop from San Diego, comes to the Buckeyes after a career at Mission Bay High School that saw her hit .468 with 29 runs scored, 15 RBI and five doubles as a senior. A threat on the bases, she stole 65 bases in 67 attempts as a junior and senior.
WHAT DOES BECOMING A BUCKEYE MEAN TO YOU?
Becoming a Buckeye means the world to me because of the culture, atmosphere, traditions, and opportunities it offers. I am a part of the Buckeye family and there is no greater feeling than to know that!
DESCRIBE SOME OF THE FACTORS THAT WENT IN TO YOU CHOOSING TO COME TO OHIO STATE
Some of the main factors that lead me to pick The Ohio State were the softball program, the campus, and the academic success of the school. I absolutely fell in love with how big the campus was, the culture and traditions of not only the school itself, but those of the softball program as well. I knew I could enjoy playing a sport I love while receiving a quality education. Lastly, I wanted to experience the four seasons.
WHAT OHIO STATE TRADITIONS ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO PARTICIPATING IN?
One of the main traditions I am looking forward to participating in is singing Carmen after every home football game I go to and after every softball game.
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING FANS WILL NOTICE ABOUT YOUR STYLE OF PLAY WHEN THEY COME TO SEE YOU AT BUCKEYE FIELD?
The first thing fans will notice is my style of play and how much I enjoy being out on the field. They will see I am on that field to compete and mean business while proudly representing being a Buckeye.
TALK ABOUT THE IMPACT THE BUCKEYES’ COACHING STAFF, AND HEAD COACH KELLY KOVACH SCHOENLY IN PARTICULAR, HAD ON YOU DURING THE RECRUITING PROCESS
The coaching staff had a great impact on me when I chose to attend this school and they were very helpful during my recruiting process. Whenever I would have questions or needed help going through the process, they were very resourceful. Coach Schoenly made me feel great about choosing to come to this school because she made me feel like I was part of the softball family the whole time.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE GOALS YOU WOULD LIKE TO ACHIEVE DURING YOUR TIME AT OHIO STATE, BOTH ATHLETICALLY AND ACADEMICALLY
I would like to be on the Dean’s list this year academically while working for a 4.0, and athletically I am going to go all out and enjoy myself while striving for my goal of achieving greatness on the field.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES AND INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF SOFTBALL?
I love to skate around not only my shortboard, but my longboard as well. Also, I love to play beach volleyball and watch movies.
