Columbia City, Ind.
Kalisha Goree is a freshman defensive specialist for the Ohio State women’s volleyball team. She’s earned playing time immediately as a rookie, making her collegiate debut in the season opener at Oregon and taking the court in a total of 17 matches this season. The small town girl from Columbia City, Ind., (population – 8,750), has made 21 digs thus far in her first collegiate campaign. She is an all-around athlete, advancing to the Indiana high school state championship in both the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump. She was named the Whitley County Female Athlete of the Year as a senior at Columbia City High.
Student Life
Do you prefer Oval Beach in the Fall or Spring (or maybe the Winter)? – Definitely winter because of the beautiful, snowy scenery!
Where is the best place to sit for lectures? – In the first few rows and towards the center, so you can have a great view of everything.
Most underrated place to study on campus – Barnes and Noble.
Why did you choose to major in Sports Industry?- I want to be either a physical therapist or an occupational therapist, because I was injured a lot growing up due to sports, and I would love to give back by caring for other injured people.
Describe your first day as a student at The Ohio State University? – It was very exciting because I love meeting new people.

Why would you want to “follow” this account? – Because he’s very entertaining and he’s always making me laugh.

The Last concert I attended was – I’ve actually never been to a concert because I have always been busy with sports.

The athlete I would most like to compete against – Megan Hodge or Destinee Hooker.
Favorite athletic memory – Beating Nebraska in their gym this year.
Team you’re most looking forward to competing against – Minnesota because we play them next and as a team, we try to focus on one game at a time.
Pre-game ritual – Praying and dancing in the locker room with my team before every game.
What is your top skill?- My defense and passing.
What skill do you need to improve? – Also my defense and passing, because I want to be the best I can be for my team.
Travel
Most interesting place I’ve visited – The Bahamas and Jamaica.
Place I would like to visit – Spain.

Favorite home cooked meal – My mom’s jambalaya is literally the best!

In 10 years, I would like to be – in great shape (like I am now).
If I had a million dollars, I would – Donate money to my church and charity and then go shopping with the rest.
Coolest thing you did this past summer – Spend time with my family in Florida.

Best piece of advice you’ve received – Always do your best, because you never know who you may inspire!
If you could have dinner with any 3 people (alive or dead), who would they be and what/where would you eat?- I would have dinner with my grandmother, my grandfather, and my aunt who have all passed away. We would eat in my kitchen and have a nice home cooked meal.
Dream event (non-sport or sport-related) you would like to attend – the 2016 Olympic volleyball championship game.
Who tweets too much on your team – I don’t think anyone on our team tweets or gets on twitter that often.
Do you have an interesting nickname? – Most of the team calls me Keesh.
What is your hometown known for? – Columbia City is known for being very small.
Pop or Soda? – Pop.
