Buckeyes Tied for Fifth after Day One of Big Ten Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

FRENCH LICK, Ind. – The Ohio State men’s golf team finished the first day of the Big Ten Championships tied for fifth with a 36-hole score of 22-over 598 on the par 72, 7,152-yard Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort.
Illinois leads the field of 12 teams with a 9-over 585, while Illini Thomas Pieters and Indiana’s Brant Peaper are tied for first among all student-athletes with a score of 4-under 140.
Sophomore Boo Timko leads all Buckeyes with an even score of 144, finishing fourth after day one. The Girard, Ohio, product opened the day with a 2-over 74 and responded with a 2-under 70 in round two. He totaled four birdies over 36 holes, including three in the second 18. Freshman Michael Bernard carded a 5-over 149 to finish tied for 15th after rounds of 76 and 73.
Sophomore Grant Weaver is tied for 26th for a score of 7-over 151 (78-73), while freshmen Max Rosenthal and Tee-k Kelly carded scores of 155 and 157, respectively.
Round three begins Saturday with 9 a.m. ET tee times.
