Thomas Earns First Team All-America Honors in the Weight Throw – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Alexis Thomas earned First Team All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the weight throw Friday at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Huber Heights, Ohio, product turned in a mark of 20.66m on her final attempt to earn the first first-team award of her collegiate career and second All-America recognition overall. Indiana State’s Felisha Johnson captured the national title at 23.52m (77-2.00).
Ohio State’s other NCAA qualifier, Aisha Cavin, finished 16th in the 200m semifinals (23.66)to earn Second Team All-America honors, the third All-America award of her OSU career. LSU’s Kimberlyn Duncan went on to claim the gold medal in a time of 22.58.
Thanks to a single point from Thomas, Ohio State finished in a tie for 52nd with North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Ole Miss.
