Ohio State Shut Out by Bulldogs, 2-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s hockey team fell to Minnesota Duluth Saturday afternoon in Value City Arena, 2-0. After being swept by the Bulldogs, the Buckeyes are now 3-5-2 this season overall and 2-5-2 in the WCHA.
Ohio State had the advantage in shots on goal for the second day in a row, outshooting the Bulldogs 36-25, but was again on the losing side of the scoreboard when the game was over. The Buckeyes end a four game home stand with a 0-3-1 record despite outshooting their opponents, Bemidji State and Minnesota Duluth, by a combined 52 shots.
Senior goaltender Lisa Steffes made her third start of the season and falls to 1-1-1 on the year after stopping 23 of 25 shots faced. Minnesota Duluth goaltender Kayla Black made 36 saves for the Bulldogs.
Minnesota Duluth got its scoring from a pair of freshman, a goal in the first period by Ashleigh Brykaliuk and one in the second by Bailey Wright.
Each squad’s penalty kill units were perfect in the contest as Ohio State went 0-3 on the power play and Minnesota Duluth was 0-4. The Buckeyes held UMD scoreless on eight power play chances in the series.
Ohio State travels to Mankato, Minn. next weekend for a series with Minnesota State Nov. 22-23
