Alicia Herron Named First Team All-Region – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Just one day after earning Third Team All-Big Ten honors, senior shortstop Alicia Herron of the Ohio State softball team has been named a First Team NFCA All-Midwest selection, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now
be eligible for selection to one of three 2012 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
Herron, a four-time All-Big Ten selection, has now earned three all-region honors, including two first team selections, and now has the opportunity to become the 11th Buckeye in program history to earn All-America status. Herron led the Big Ten Conference in several batting categories for the majority of the season. She concluded her final season in the Scarlet and Gray with a .378 average, 48 runs scored, 51 hits, seven doubles, four triples, 14 home runs, 48 RBI, an .800 slugging percentage, 52 walks, 14 stolen bases and a .569 on-base percentage.
The 2012 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at 5 p.m. May 30 on NFCA.org.
