Ohio State in Top Five at Robert Kepler Intercollegiate – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After battling through a very wet opening day of action at the 42nd-annual Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, the Ohio State men’s golf team returned to the course Sunday and finished in a fifth-place tie. The Buckeyes posted a 26-over 310 during the third round of play, to end the tournament with a 57-over 909 total.
Ohio State’s top finisher of the day was redshirt freshman Logan Jones, who carded a 13-over 226 to finish tied for ninth.
Junior Matt Turner followed with a 14-over 227 to tie for 13th, while senior Alex Redfield carded a 15-over 228 for a 19th-place tie. Freshman Boo Timko had a 4-over 75 in the third round to finish tied for 27th with a 17-over 230.
Rounding out the Ohio State team score was freshman Grant Weaver and senior Dan Charen. Weaver tied for 30th-place with an 18-over 231, and Charen wrapped up the weekend with a 20-over 233 to tie for 40th.
Also recording individual scores were Buckeyes Jamie Sindelar, Trey Sullivan and Gary Quinn. Sindelar, a junior from Horseheads, N.Y., finished tied for 62nd after recording a 26-over 239. Sullivan tied for 77th with a 249, while Quinn carded a 254.
Kent State captured the program’s fifth title at the Kepler Intercollegiate with a 46-over 898. Southern Methodist’s Max Buckley took the individual competition with a 7-over 220.
The Buckeyes will return to the course at the Big Ten Championships, April 27-29. Ohio State will look to build on last season’s fourth-place showing at the championships.
