COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sprinter Chesna Sykes was named Big Ten co-Track Athlete of the Week Wednesday by the conference office after turning in two of the nation’s best times in Orlando last weekend at the UCF Invitational. Sykes shares the award with Breanne Ehrman of Indiana. This is the first Athlete of the Week award for the sophomore.
The Columbus native ran her fastest time since becoming a Buckeye when she crossed the line in 11.42 in the 100m dash for third. That time is No. 4 in Ohio State history and tied for second in Division I. Sykes also helped the Ohio State 4x100m relay team place third with a time of 43.88, the second-fastest time in school history and the fifth-best time in the nation this season. Both of those marks are currently the best in the Big Ten as well.
