Buckeyes Lead Shamrock Invite – Ohio State Buckeyes

South Bend, Indiana – Ohio State dominated the first of three sessions of competition at Notre Dame’s Shamrock Invitational Friday evening. The Buckeyes lead the women’s competition 67-40 over Notre Dame and 62-45 over Iowa.
Ohio State was the winner of the 200 freestyle relay. Michelle Williams, Megan Detro, Phoebe Cater and Jackie Brousseau swam that event in a time of 1:32.89. The Ohio State unit of Darcy Fishback, Kelsey Moran, Angela Severn and Alex Norris finished fifth in a time of 1:36.99.
In the 500 freestyle, Iowa’s Becky Stoughton swam the fastest time (4:47.28), but Buckeyes Alex Norris (4:51.27), Kelly Ann Baird (4:52.70), Natalie Nichols (4:54.87) and Kelly Titus (4:58.56) finished second through fifth.
In the 200 IM, Emma Reaney of Notre Dame was the winner (2:00.92), with Ohio State’s Angela Severn (2:03.14) placing second. Emily Creran was fourth (2:05.71) and Lisa Narum fifth (2:06.69).
Megan Detro of Ohio State won the 50 free in a time of 23.07, with Buckeye Michelle Williams just behind her in second in a time of 23.29. Jackie Brousseau was eighth (24.27).
The Buckeyes took the first two spots in the 400 medley relay. The squad of Kelsey Moran, Angela Severn, Shannon Draves and Michelle Williams posted the fastest time of 3:43.84. The Buckeye relay of Emily Creran, Catherine Eitel, Alex Norris and Megan Detro was second in 3:45.84.
The Shamrock Invitational continues Saturday with sessions at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
