Buckeyes Victorious At Michigan State – Ohio State Buckeyes

Friday evening, Ohio State posted a 144-98 victory at Michigan State in a dual meet in women’s swimming and diving. Ohio State won both relays and seven individual events in the Big Ten competition.
The Buckeyes won both distance freestyle races. Darcy Fishback was first in the 500 free (5:01.18), Emily Creran (5:03.22) was second and Angela Severn (5:09.63) was fourth. In the 100 free, Severn was the winner in a time of 10:20.81 and Creran was second (10:22.11).
Ohio State’s Kelly Ann Baird won the 200 freestyle (1:52.60), while Michelle Williams was second (1:53.83) and Natalie Nichols was third (1:54.17). Alex Norris won the 200 IM in a time of 2:06.04, followed by Buckeye teammate Shannon Draves, who was second (2:07.63).
In the 200 butterfly, OSU’s Ashley Vance (2:07.54) was the winner and Kristyn Fulcher (2:11.11) was third. Ohio State’s Lauren Davis (2:04.91) won the 200 backstroke, and Mary Sarah Cruzan was second (2:06.18). Michigan State’s Kerry Sodonis won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:19.42. Buckeyes Lisa Narum (2:23.37) and Kelly Titus (2:24.35) were second and third in that event.
Ohio State’s Cheyenne Cousineau won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 294.97; her teammate Kristen Asman was fourth (282.22) in that event. In the three-meter diving event, Michigan State’s Sarah Clay (343.80) was the winner; Asman was the top Buckeye, placing third with a score of 311.63.
The quartet of Lauren Massey, Catherine Eitel, Darcy Fishback and Phoebe Cater won the 400 medley relay in a time of 3:49.96. Buckeyes Shannon Draves, Alex Norris, Michelle Williams and Kelly Ann Baird posted the winning time (3:29.80) in the 400 freestyle relay.
Michigan State’s Jenny Rusch won both the 50 free (23.88) and the 100 free (52.59). Buckeye Phoebe Cater was second in the 50 (24.04) and Jackie Brousseau was Ohio State’s top placer in the 100, placing third (53.26).
The Buckeyes, now 7-0 in dual meet competition, return to action at home tomorrow hosting Michigan at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion at 1 p.m.
