Las Vegas, Nev. – A dozen of Canada’s top 2012 Olympic swimming hopefuls, including former Buckeye Samantha Cheverton, have gathered in Las Vegas, Nevada, this week for a training camp both in the pool and in the Cirque du Soleil classroom .
Magical classroom is best described by the athletes and coaches attending the camp.
The swimmers have a unique opportunity to interact with athletes, coaches and staff of Cirque du Soleil and witness behind the scene training and share experiences.
“We approached the Cirque du Soleil to partner with our top Olympic prospects for this camp with the intent to share knowledge on training, preparation and attention to details, day in, day out,” said CEO and National Coach for Swimming Canada, Pierre Lafontaine.
“The Cirque du Soleil has become one of the great Canadian icons, and we were thrilled that they were actually really excited to partner with us for our Olympic preparation.”
Cirque du Soleil athletes have to perform over 400 times a year in addition to a vigorous training schedule.
“Performance on demand is key to their success. We want our athletes to build on this notion of today not tomorrow. Make every training count.”
