COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 23rd-ranked Ohio State men’s golf team finished the Inverness Intercollegiate in 11th-place Tuesday after 18-holes of play. The Scarlet and Gray recorded a 21-over 305 at the prominent par-71, 7,255-yard Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
The tournament, hosted by the University of Toledo, was cut short due to heavy rain Monday. Originally scheduled to play three rounds, the eleven-team field was only able to complete a single round of play due to the unfortunate weather.
Kent State walked away with the title with a 3-over 287, outlasting second-place Liberty by four strokes.
Senior Alex Redfield led the Buckeyes, concluding the round tied for 17th after shooting a 3-over 74 on the day. Freshman Grant Weaver, competing as an individual, carded a 4-over 75 to tie for 25th overall.
Redshirt freshman Logan Jones and freshman Boo Timko followed tied for 32nd and 39th, respectively. Jones posted a 5-over 76, while Timko recorded a 6-over 77.
Also competing for the Scarlet and Gray were senior Dan Charen and junior Matt Turner. They each finished tied in 46th with a 7-over 78.
Up Next, Ohio State will once again host the Jack Nicklaus Invitational at the legend’s personally designed Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The tournament will consist of three rounds Oct. 10-11.
