Buckeyes in First after Day One of Jack Nicklaus Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team got off to an impressive start at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational Monday finishing in first-place after two rounds of play at the beautiful par 72, 7,352-yard Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The Buckeyes wrapped up the day 2-under with a score of 574.
After posting a 286 in the opening round, Ohio State remained consistent in the second closing the round with a 288. Senior Alex Redfield led the Scarlet and Gray individually, concluding the day tied for sixth with a 2-under 142 performance. Freshman Boo Timko followed tied for ninth with an even final score of 144.
Senior Dan Charen finished tied for 19th after recording a score of 147 (+3). Freshman Grant Weaver and redshirt freshman Logan Jones completed the Buckeye lineup in the 21st (148, +4) and 27th position (149, +5), respectively.
No. 18 Kent State and No. 11 Texas are tied for second going into the final round of play, each with a two-round score of 575. UCLA (586), LSU (588) and Illinois (588) round out the top five. Illinois’ Thomas Pieters leads the individual competition, finishing the day 7-under 137.
The Jack Nicklaus Invitational, hosted by the Buckeyes, will continue at tomorrow with the final round beginning with 8:30 a.m. tee times from holes 1 and 10.
