Four More Buckeyes Qualify for NCAA Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After an impressive showing at the 2011 NCAA East Regional Preliminaries, the Ohio State women’s track and field team will send a total of five members to the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
Two athletes qualified after an outstanding Ohio State showing in the 100m hurdles. Senior Letecia Wright captured the East Regional championship in the 100 hurdles with a 12.97 after also winning yesterday’s preliminary race. With a time of 13.03 Christina Manning also qualified for the NCAA championships by placing fifth. Alana Gray ran a 13.76, but did not qualify. Wright and Manning will be making their third and second appearances at the championships, respectively.
In the 200m dash Madison McNary ran a 23.73 for ninth place and a spot at NCAAs. The transfer from the University of Florida will be making her inaugural appearance at the NCAA championships. Louisiana State’s Kimberlyn Duncan won the race with a time of 23.04
The Scarlet and Gray’s 4x100m relay team qualified for the championships after placing sixth. Wright, McNary, Chesna Sykes and Manning combined to run a 44.55. This will also be the first NCAA championships for Sykes. The 4x100m relay team from LSU took first in 43.60.
