COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore Noelle Malley notched a victory in Flight A singles semifinals Saturday at the Martha Thorn Invitational hosted by West Virginia. She will face Emily Mathis of WVU at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Kansas City, Mo., native Malley downed Virginia Tech’s Tea Ivanovic in a three-set decision Saturday after picking up a pair of wins Friday. The Buckeye sophomore battled the Hokie to a 5-5 score in the third, but picked up the last two games to take the set and match, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
Teammate Tiffany Dittmer earned her first victory of the tournament as she downed Carolyn Jesko of Youngstown State, 6-1, 6-0, in Flight A consolations. Fellow sophomore Kelsey Becker battled but ultimately fell to YSU’s Marta Burak, 6-3, 6-3.
