Buckeyes Tied for Fourth After Two Rounds at Windon Memorial – Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State eight strokes off the pace heading into final day, three Buckeyes in top 20
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team teed off in the third tournament of the fall schedule Sunday, completing the first two rounds at the Windon Memorial Classic in Glenview, Ill. The Buckeyes head into the final round tied for fourth place with host Northwestern after posting rounds of 287-293 for a total of 580 (+12) on the par 71, 7,067-yard North Shore Country Club.
Ohio State is just two strokes behind third-place Tulsa. The leader after two rounds is Michigan, who sits atop the leader board at 4-over 572. California made a charge up the standings to during the second round to move into second place at 6-over. Lion Kim of the Wolverines holds the individual lead at 140 (-2).
The Buckeyes were lead by Jamie Sindelar who is tied for 13th place. The sophomore from Horseheads, N.Y., fired an opening round 71, balancing three birdies with three bogeys. He followed with a 73 in the afternoon for a total of 2-over 144.
Just a stroke back overall from Sindelar are senior Bo Hoag and sophomore Matt Turner tied for 18th. Hoag, from Upper Arlington, Ohio, posted rounds of 73-72 while totaling eight birdies on the day, including five in the second round.
Making his first start of the season, Turner, from Dubai, UAE, fired rounds of 71-74 to put him near the front of the pack heading into the final round. He also tallied eight birdies in his opening 36 holes – five in the first round.
Senior Brad Smith also fired a pair of solid rounds for the Scarlet and Gray with scores of 72-74 put him on the cusp of the top 20 standings in a tie for 21st place at 4-over.
Rounding out the lineup for Ohio State was junior Alex Redfield, who put up rounds of 78-75 to tie for 62nd place at 153.
The Windon Memorial Classic will conclude with a final round Monday. Ohio State will tee off between 8:45-9:21 a.m. (CT) and live scoring is available on www.golfstat.com.
