Buckeyes Prepare for Fall Ball – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team began practice this week at Buckeye Field, gearing up for its fall ball schedule that includes hosting the 10th annual Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic Oct. 2-3 at Fred Beekman Park on The Ohio State University campus.
The Buckeyes were quick at work on defensive drills at the beginning of their second practice before doing some hitting in the later part of Wednesday morning.
During the afternoon, head coach Linda Kalafatis surprised the team with a competition at the pistol range located in the basement of Converse Hall. Ohio State pistol head coach James Sweeney, along with assistant coach Donna Knisley, gave the squad a lesson before the group tried out the range for about an hour with several scoring 80 points or better on the targets.
The Buckeyes are coming off a 39-14 overall record from the 2009 season. Ohio State appeared in its fourth NCAA regional appearance in the last five seasons.
