Ohio State Adds Walk-On Recruit – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Freshman Kelsey Becker of Granite Bay, Calif., will join the Ohio State women’s tennis team this fall.
“We are excited to announce Kelsey Becker will be joining our program in the fall,” Chuck Merzbacher, Ohio State head coach, said. “Kelsey is from one of strongest tennis states in the nation, if not the top state nationally. Her experience playing the top junior players at every event will be beneficial as she prepares for her collegiate career. She has also trained alongside rising sophomore Fidan Manashirova at the Gorin Tennis Academy in the Sacramento area.”
Becker, a three-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net, becomes a Buckeye after a standout prep career, including a spot on the first team All-Sierra Foothill League squad along with league MVP accolades. She is a two-time Northern California Girl’s 18’s team champion and helped her team win the prestigious Gar Glenney Cup in 2008.
The California native was just as impressive off the court throughout her prep career. Becker, a graduate of Del Oro High, finished with a 4.14 GPA on a 4.0 scale, earning Magna Cum Laude honors as well as the President’s Education Award.
