The Ohio State women’s tennis team practiced for the first time in 2009-10 Friday morning at the Stickney Tennis Center. On a sunny, 80 degree morning, the team got right to work, playing intrasquad matches. Check the photo gallery above for photos from opening day.
“We’re excited to be back,” Chuck Merzbacher, Ohio State head coach, said. “We have close to half of a new team, including three talented freshmen. The strongest part of the lineup is back, with Nos. 1-4 returning, as well as Kelsey who is always a good contributor. It’s a good mix of kids.”
The Buckeye roster features eight players – seniors Christina Keesey and Kirsten Flower, juniors Cami Hubbs and Paloma Escobedo, sophomore Kelsey Haviland and freshmen Kara Cecil, Gabby Steele and Fidan Manashirova.
The team will continue practice before opening their schedule at the UK Wildcat Invitational and ITA All-American Championships beginning Oct. 8.
