Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic Schedule Released – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The schedule for the 2009 Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic has been finalized! In its ninth season, the Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser hosted by the Ohio State softball team at Fred Beekman Park will open with seven games on Oct. 3 and conclude with 22 games on Oct. 4.
A total of 20 teams, with Tiffin fielding two squads, will compete in the event, which benefits the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
With the highest number of Ohio colleges and universities competing at the event this year in the eight-year history, the teams hope to raise its largest donation for Stefanie Spielman Fund.
Chris Spielman, Stefanie’s husband and a former standout Buckeye linebacker, will speak with the teams at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Fred Beekman Park: is an eight-field complex located west of State Route 315 at Lane Avenue. Concessions will be available from the Central Ohio Coaches Association and bleacher seating is limited. Admission to the event will be a $5 donation and all proceeds go directly to the charity. Notably, all of the umpires for this event are donating their time.
