Columbus, Ohio Members of the Ohio State women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams recently enjoyed a “play day” together that was as much team building as incredibly fun. Check out the photo album link to see the splashing good time the teams enjoyed recently.
Former Ohio State diver Steve Skilken and his family hosted both teams at his amazing home just outside of Columbus for a day of jet skiing, tubing, zip lining, eating great food and just enjoying the company of each other. Legendary Olympic and Ohio State diving coach Ron O’Brien also took part in the activities of the day. The Ron O’Brien Diving Well at the McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion is named in his honor.
Skilken, a three-time Ohio State diving All-American and letterwinner between 1970-72, is one of the hundreds of former alums, athletes and friends of the athletic department who endow an athletics scholarship or scholarships through the department’s 1888 Society Athletic Scholarship Endowment Program. The 1888 Society at The Ohio State University helps student-athletes realize their dreams by providing support for their educational experience through athletic scholarships and program support.
The Department of Athletics is grateful for the visionary support of alumni and friends, like Skilken, who have demonstrated their pride in the athletic and academic success of all Buckeye student-athletes by establishing endowments, linking their name with proud Buckeye tradition.
Go Bucks!
