Ohio State in Third After 36 Holes at William H. Tucker Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

Brad Wright begins Buckeye career with a 67; Bo Hoag tied for second at 5-under
COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State men’s golf team opened the 2008 fall season on a good note, sitting in third place at 3-under 573 with three Buckeyes in the Top 20 after 36 holes at the 54th annual William H. Tucker Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The event is being held at the par 72, 7,403-yard UNM Championship Course.
The Buckeyes, who shot team scores of 281 and 292, are four strokes behind second-place UNLV and nine shots behind tournament leader and host New Mexico. Individually, Brandon Putnam of New Mexico leads at 7-under 133 after shooting 66-67.
Sophomore Bo Hoag is tied for second after leading the Buckeyes with rounds of 70-69 for a total of 5-under 139. On the day, Hoag carded eight birdies and an eagle. This is the second-consecutive year the native of Upper Arlington, Ohio, has got out of the gate quickly at the Tucker Invitational. Hoag opened his college career with a 67 in the first round of the tournament last season.
Also opening the season with two solid rounds was Cambridge, Ohio, native Brad Wright. The redshirt-junior shot a 67 in his first round as a Buckeye, which included seven birdies and an eagle. Wright finished with a 3-over 75 and sits in a tie for eighth at 2-under 142.
True freshman Michael Kinkopf, playing in his first collegiate tournament, shot a 70 in his first round. The Hilliard, Ohio, native carded an afternoon round of 75 and sits tied for 16th.
Rounding out the Ohio State scores for the first day of the Tucker Invitational were senior Vaughn Snyder and junior Patrick Simard. Snyder is tied for 25th after rounds of 74 and 73 and Simard is tied for 50th with rounds of 74 and 77.
The William H. Tucker Invitational concludes with the final 18 holes Saturday. Teams will be teeing off at 9:30 a.m. (MT). Live scoring of the event is available at www.golfstat.com.
