It Was a Family Affair at Coach Dorenkott’s House – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – One of the first things that Ohio State swimming coach Bill Dorenkott did once his team of swimmers came back to campus for the start of fall classes was to have a picnic…at his home in Dublin.
Dorenkott, a proven program-builder – he has coached three Big Ten championship teams – who maximizes potential, believes that the experiences the student-athletes are a part of are as important as their efforts in the pool.
“Swimming is probably going to be the fourth-most important thing that our student-athletes will do on campus,” Dorenkott said. “The first is we want great kids. Second is we want our swimmers to remember who they are and where they came from and to understand that family is very important. Third: there is a reason that they are here and that is to get a degree and to know that degree can open doors for them a long time after they leave Ohio State. And fourth is swimming. Quite frankly, if the first three are taken care of No. 4 takes care of itself.”
