Men’s/Women’s Tennis: Six Buckeyes Named ITA Scholar Athletes – Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State women’s team also named to the All-Academic team list
COLUMBUS, Ohio Six members of the 2007-08 Ohio State men’s and women’s tennis teams, Angela DiPastina, Julie Blackmore, Christina Keesey, Caitlin O’Keefe, Julie Voss and Mike O’Connell were named Scholar Athletes by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Additionally, the women’s team was named to the All-Academic team list for the second consecutive year.
It was the fourth such honor for the graduated O’Keefe, while Voss, a rising senior, collected her third in three years. Senior-to-be Blackmore was honored for the second consecutive season, and the first for both the rising senior DiPastina and upcoming junior Keesey.
O’Connell, who is entering his junior season on the men’s team, has earned the award in both 2007 and 2008.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes who have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2006 and spring 2007).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letterwinner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and must have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
