COLUMBUS, Ohio Natalie Spooner, an incoming freshman on the Ohio State women’s hockey team, was named to Canada’s National Women’s Under-22 team, Hockey Canada announced Sunday. The forward from Scarborough, Ontario, is one of 22 players selected to the team following a seven-day evaluation camp, August 10-17 in Toronto.
The Canadian U-22 team will compete in a three-game series against the U.S. Women’s Under-22 Select Team, August 20-23 in Pierrefonds, Quebec.
Spooner competed in the Provincial Women’s Hockey League during the 2007-08 season. She played for the Durham Lightning that finished fourth in the PWHL. In the regular season, she led Durham in goals with 25 and was third on the team in scoring with 38 points in 23 games. She ranked 11th in the league in points.
