Women’s T&F: Griffin Qualifies for 400-Meter Finals; Jatsek Ends OSU Career – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The women’s track and field team had several solid performances on day three of the 2008 NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on the campus of the Drake University.
In the 400-meter dash semifinals Jenna Griffin qualified for Saturday’s final with her seventh-place time of 52.77. By qualifying, she automatically earns All-American honors (the top 8 receive the honor). She will not be joined her teammate Ayrizanna Favours as she finished in 14th-place with a time of 53.52.
Senior Veronica Jatsek concluded her decorated Ohio State career with a 12th-place finish in the hammer throw in her final competition as a Buckeye. Jatsek posted a toss of 192 feet, 9 inches. She finishes her career holding two the top three tosses in Ohio State history in the hammer throw. Jatsek is still waiting to see if she will earn the fourth All-American honor of her career. Jatsek holds the Big Ten Championship meet record in the hammer throw and is a two-time Big Ten champion in the hammer and already has three All-American honors to her credit.
The Buckeyes will be back in action tomorrow as Griffin will run in the 400-meter final at 3:05 p.m. CST and then the 4×400-meter dash at 4:37 p.m. EST. CBS will broadcast live coverage of the final day of competition from 3-5 p.m. CST.
