Women’s Lacrosse Opens Season Saturday – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State opens the 2008 women’s lacrosse season Saturday, Feb. 16, with a home match against American at 2:30 p.m.
Because of the anticipated conditions, the match will be played on the turf field adjacent to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
The Buckeyes return 19 letterwinners from the 2007 squad, which finished with a 9-7 mark and placed fourth in the American Lacrosse Conference. Returnees Jessica Patane, Amanda Shimp, Kristen Slahor and Kristen Gilwee were all-ALC selections last season.
“With the experience we have returning and the improvements our team has made, we are eager to get the season underway,” said Sue Stimmel, beginning her 13th season as Ohio State head coach.
American, out of the Patriot League, was 9-9 last season.
Ohio State continues its three-game homestand next Tuesday, Feb. 19, with a 4 p.m. match against Duquesne.
