DIVING: Buckeyes Compete at Texas A&M Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State men’s and women’s diving teams competed this weekend at the Art Adamson Invitational at Texas A&M’s Student Recreation Natatorium, the site of the 2009 NCAA men’s and women’s NCAA championships.
Two Buckeyes sophomores Kristen Asman and Katie Bell competed on all three boards during the three-day event. Asman came away a sixth-place finish on platform (229.35 points), and 11th- and 20thplace efforts on the one- and three-meter boards, respectively, with 241.95 and 221.35 points. Bell was ninth on platform (208.95 points), 10th with 256.95 points on the three-meter board and 21st on the one-meter (210.35).
Junior Burkley Showe led the team’s efforts with two runner-up finishes. The Worthington, Ohio native took second on the one-meter springboard with 350.15 points and also on the three-meter board wlith 417.60 points. Sophomore Ryan Jefferson was fifth with 303.90 points and 10th with 323.25 points on the two boards, respectively.
Defending NCAA platform champion Sean Moore, a sophomore, was fourth on the event with 349.10 points. He also placed fifth on the three-meter (378.20) and 12th on the one-meter (276.10) events, respectively.
The three Buckeye divers who did not compete at the event seniors Wes Wieser and Chelsea Davis and sophomore Bianca Alvarez will all be red-shirting this season.
