Two Buckeye doubles teams advance to round of eight
COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s tennis team finished the third day of competition at the 2008 ITA Midwest Regional in East Lansing, Mich., with two Buckeye doubles teams advancing to the round of eight.
Julie Blackmore and Kirsten Flower defeated Krisik and Matthews of Notre Dame, coming back from a 7-4 deficit to close out the match, 9-7. They will face the top-seeded team of Lui and Rose from Northwestern Sunday.
Christina Keesey and Cami Hubbs also moved in to the round of eight with a tight 9-8 (7) win over Sugiyama and Muresan of Michigan. They will take on Salkovic and McKnight of DePaul Sunday.
Ohio State closed out singles action at the Midwest Regional with no player advancing beyond the second round. Flower, Blackmore and Kelsey Haviland all picked up wins in their first round matches but were all defeated in the second round.
