COLUMBUS, Ohio Senior Veronica Jatsek earned her first Big Ten field athlete of the week award on Tuesday after opening the season with a win in the weight throw at the Kentucky Invitational.
Jatsek, a native of Walton Hills, Ohio, won the weight toss with a mark of 67 feet, 11 inches topping the field by almost eight feet. Last season, Jatsek was an All-American in the weight throw, joining her brother and fellow Buckeye Lenny as an All-American. Jatsek shares the honor with Alicia Rue of Minnesota.
Up next for Jatsek and the Buckeye is the Big Ten SEC challenge in Bloomington, Ind., on Jan. 19 on the campus of Indiana University.
