Softball: Buckeyes Begin Practice Monday – Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State 25 days away from 2008 opener in Florida
COLUMBUS, Ohio The defending Big Ten champion Ohio State softball team held its first official practice of the 2008 season Monday inside at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The Buckeyes are 25 days away from their 2008 opener in Deland, Fla., at the Stetson Tournament, which will mark their first of five tournaments around the country to begin the season.
Ohio State will be in Deland Feb. 8-10, Miami Feb. 15-17, Palm Springs Feb. 22-24, Las Vegas March 7-9 and Sacramento March 14-16 before hosting Houston March 18 in the Buckeyes’ home opener.
Five starters and 11 letterwinners are back for 12th-year head coach Linda Kalafatis, who must replace five senior starters from a year ago, all of whom were Big Ten postseason award winners.
Ohio State went 40-18 last season, winning both the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships. The Buckeyes then came within one win of their first trip to NCAA Super Regionals.
