Ohio State Women’s Tennis Finishes Day One at Baylor Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s tennis team concluded the Friday session at the Baylor Invitational in Waco, Texas.
Freshmen Paloma Escobedo (Fr., Houston, Tex./New Braunfels) and Cami Hubbs (Fr., Omaha, Neb./Omaha Westside) each recorded their first victories for Ohio State in their debut matches.
Escobedo recorded her first win over Irina Sotnikov of Sam Houston State, winning 6-2, 6-2 in the Flight A bracket. She fell in her next matchup against the -seeded Adriana Solarova of South Alabama 6-3, 6-3. In doubles action, Escobedo paired with Angela DiPastina (Jr.,Titusville, N.J./Hun School of Princeton) and dropped the Lamar team 8-1 in Flight B.
Hubbs went 2-0 on the day in the Flight C singles bracket, with wins over Amy Joubert of North Texas and Eva Silvester of Texas-San Antonio. Her next matchup will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. against Natalie Holmes of Baylor. Hubbs also saw doubles action, teaming with Ally Mueller (So., Roswell, Ga./New Braunfels) to defeat the Sam Houston State team 8-5 in Flight A.
