White Joins Women’s Lacrosse Staff – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio OhioState alumna Kylee White has rejoined the Buckeye women’s lacrosse program as an assistant coach, OSU head coach Sue Stimmel announced today.
“I am really excited to be back in Buckeye country and to be able to give back to a school and a program that I love,” White said. “I will be working with a great group of athletes and I want to be part of returning OhioState to the NCAA Tournament. The respect for the Buckeye program is obvious when you realize that two former players are working with Sue on the coaching staff. I had an amazing four years in Columbus as a student-athlete and I am eager to start my next chapter at OhioState.”
White joins the Buckeyes after three seasons as an assistant coach at Stanford under Michele Uhlfelder, where she helped the Cardinal to three MPSF Championships, becoming the first program west of the Mississippi to earn an NCAA bid. While at Stanford, she helped develop All-Americans goalie Laura Shane and attacker Megan Burker.
A native of London, Ontario, White played for Canada in two IFWLA World Cups. In 2001, she helped her team to a fourth place finish. In the 2005 World Cup, in which her team finished fourth, she ranked in the top five for caused turnovers per game, and was nominated for the all-World team. In the match with eventual world champion Australia, White netted a goal for Canada with 19:30 remaining in the second half. She currently serves as an assistant coach for the Canadian U-19 team, which finished fourth in this summer’s World Championships; four of her players were selected to the all-World team.
“We are so glad Kylee is back with the Buckeyes,” Stimmel said. “She was a great player here, and she has always been a person with high energy and enthusiasm. Now that she’s had five years to develop some of her own coaching ideas through her work with Canada and Stanford, we are eager for the new things she can bring to our program as we work to return to the NCAAs.”
A four-year letterwinner at OhioState, White (then Kylee Reade) co-captained the 2002 Buckeye squad that posted an 11-5 mark and a second place finish in the American Lacrosse Conference. White was a four-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete selection and was honored as an Academic All-Big Ten performer on three occasions. Her 28 caused turnovers during her junior season still rank her among the Buckeye top 10. She is tied for sixth on the OhioState career chart with 60 caused turnovers, and also ranks sixth on the career ground balls list with 123.
White scored a career-high 15 goals as a freshman and was the lacrosse team representative to the Ohio State Student Athlete Advisory Board from 1998-2000. An ice hockey standout in addition to lacrosse, White was co-captain of OhioState’s inaugural women’s varsity ice hockey team from 1999-2000. She received a degree in education from OhioState in 2002.
White began her coaching career as a lacrosse and hockey coach and assistant instructor in Wellness at The Culver (Ind.) Academies; there, her squads captured two Indiana state championships and posted an undefeated record against in-state competition. Kylee and her husband Todd White have a Great Dane, Moose.
