Three Buckeyes in Top 20 as Men’s Golf Finishes Fourth at Season-Opening William H. Tucker Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

Freshman Bo Hoag ties for ninth in first collegiate tournament
COLUMBUS, Ohio Three golfers finished in the Top 20 as the Ohio State men’s golf team opened its season in fourth place with a score of 877 (+13) at the 53rd Annual William H. Tucker Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The event, hosted by the University of New Mexico, was held at the par 72, 7,350-yard UNM Championship Course.
The Buckeyes, who completed the event with rounds of 283-297-297, were six strokes back from third-place Colorado at 871. San Diego State took second with a score of 868 and Pepperdine won the event at even-par 864. Jesse Barnsley of Pepperdine won the individual title at 12-under 204.
Three Ohio State golfers placed in the Top 20, led by freshman Bo Hoag. The native of Upper Arlington, Ohio shot a final round of 3-over 75 to tie for ninth in his first collegiate tournament with a total of 216 (E). Dan Rush, a junior from Cleveland, Ohio, shot the lowest round of the day for Ohio State with a 73 to place 14th at 219.
Also finishing in the Top 20 was senior Kyle Coconis. The Zanesville, Ohio-native played consistently with rounds of 74-73-74 for a total of 5-over 221 to tie for 19th.
Rounding out the Buckeye competitors were junior Kevin Grabeman (T-80th, 234) and senior Zach Sebert, who was disqualified in the first round.
Ohio State returns to action Oct. 7-8 when they compete in the Coca-Cola Duke Golf Classic at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
