COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team ended the 2007 campaign ranked 22nd in the final ESPN.com/USA Collegiate Softball Top 25 poll and 23rd in the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll, marking the second time the Buckeyes have finished the season in the Top 25.
Ohio State is now 46-26 all-time when ranked nationally, including a 21-3 record at Buckeye Field. In the Big Ten Tournament, Ohio is 5-2, including a 3-0 mark in 2007.
Ohio State finished the 2007 season strong, winning eight of its last nine regular-season games and sweeping through the Big Ten Tournament with a 3-0 mark. The Buckeyes made their season debut in the national rankings before the Big Ten Tournament, coming in at No. 25 in the NFCA poll. Prior to the NCAA Tournament, the Buckeyes were bumped up to No. 21 in the ESPN.com poll. After defeating both Cal State Fullerton and No. 14 Virginia Tech, the Buckeyes ended the season with consecutive losses to Fullerton, which was ranked No. 16 at the end the season.
Listed below are the all-time results when Ohio State is ranked. Note that the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll did not exist until the 2003 season. In 2002, the Buckeyes were ranked No. 13 in the final NFCA poll, which stands as the program’s best final season ranking.
