– The Buckeyes had won five-consecutive one-run games before falling 2-1 at Akron Wednesday. Ohio State is now 10-6 in one-run games this season.
– Ohio State out-hit Akron, 5-4, but the Buckeyes see their record slip to 26-5 when out-hitting their opponent.
– Last season, the Buckeyes saw their season-best 12-game win streak come to an end with a 6-5 loss in eight innings at another Mid-American Conference member, Miami, in Oxford, Ohio.
– Ohio State extended its current streak of consecutive games without being shutout to 27 games Wednesday at Akron. The Ohio State record for consecutive games scoring at least one run is 28, set last year.
– Buckeyes at the plate: With a single in the first inning, junior Brittany Vanderink extended her current hitting streak to nine games. She went 2-for-4 in the game and during her nine game hitting streak is batting .464 (13-28).
– Senior Jamee Juarez’s fifth inning was her third triple in her last six games.
– Buckeyes in the circle: For the sixth time in her career, sophomore Kim Reeder did not walk a batter in five-plus innings. Wednesday marked the first time this season that Reeder did not walk a batter in an appearance that went more than an inning.
– The Buckeyes are now 12-8 all-time against Akron.
– Akron has 11 letterwinners back from its 2006 team that went 26-25 overall and 13-9 in the Mid-American Conference.
