– Ohio State has won 11 of its last 13 games and 16 of its last 21.
– Buckeyes at the plate: Senior Christina Douglas and freshman Sam Marder both extended their current career-best hitting streaks in the game Friday. Marder singled in the first inning the give her hits in eight consecutive games, while Douglas singled in the third inning to extend her streak to nine games.
– During their current hitting streaks, Douglas is batting .480 (12-25), while Marder is batting .444 (12-27).
– In Big Ten games only, Douglas leads Ohio State with a .500 average (10-20).
– Sam Marder, who set the Ohio State freshman RBI record Friday (see recap), hit her eighth double of the season, which ties her for the team lead with Megan Schwab.
– Jamee Juarez’s two doubles in the game tied her career high … in eight career games against Illinois, Juarez is batting a team best .421 (8-19).
– Buckeyes in the circle: In only 3.2 innings of work Friday, senior Jamee Juarez struck out 11 batters, giving her 649 for her career, which are 43 shy of the Ohio State all-time record held by Katie Chain (2000-03) … with the win, Juarez owns 66 career victories, which are one shy of Chain’s record 67.
– Weather: Sunny and 70 degrees at first pitch. Wind 5-15 MPH right to left. – Ohio State is now 9-4 all-time against Illinois since the Illini became a varsity sport in 2001. The Buckeyes are now 2-1 at UI’s Eichelberger Field.
– Illinois has 13 letterwinners back from its 2006 team that went 24-31 overall and 8-11 in the Big Ten.
