Harris Shatters Ohio State 400-meter Record at NCAA Indoor Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jenna Harris, a senior sprinter on the Ohio State women’s track and field team, established a program record in advancing to the national final in the 400-meter dash Friday at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. Harris clocked a time of 52.74 to place fourth in the preliminary round and earn a bid to the final at 7:55 p.m. EST Saturday.
Harris’ mark snapped a 24-year old OSU standard set by 1988 U.S. Olympian Diane Dixon, who set the record at 53.17 Feb. 19, 1983. Harris, from Somerset, N.J., was joined in the 400m prelim by Buckeye sophomore Ayrizonna Favours, a Columbus Eastmoor Academy product. Competing in her fist meet at the national level, Favours missed the final with a 13th-place time of 53.80.
