– Ohio State’s mercy rule win against Robert Morris was the Buckeyes’ first of the season and first since their last home game of the 2006 season when they beat Oakland 8-0 at Buckeye Field.
– Buckeyes at the plate: Freshman Sam Marder’s home run in the fourth inning was her sixth of the season, bringing her within one of second place on the Ohio State freshman home runs list. Courtney Pruner hit seven last season. The record is 10 homers by Kristine Himes in 2000.
– Senior Megan Schwab’s RBI single in the first inning gave her 98 career RBIs.
– Senior Nycole Koyano hit her ninth career triple Thursday, which ties her for fourth place all-time at Ohio State with Pam Guy (1979-82). Next up at No. 3 is Anna Smith, who hit 11 triples from 1999-02.
– Buckeyes in the circle: Senior Jamee Juarez notched her 14th career game in which she did not walk a batter in at least five innings of work … Juarez pitched her 600th career inning Thursday, joining a list of only four other OSU pitchers who totaled 600 or more innings in their careers … on the career innings pitched list, Juarez passed Kristi DeVries (600.1 IP, 2001-04) for fourth place (605.1 IP) … the complete game was the 54th of Juarez’s career and her 20th shutout, which gives her sole possession of second place on the OSU career shutouts list (had been tied with Kristi DeVries (2001-04) … Ohio State pitchers have thrown complete games in five of the last six games.
– Buckeyes in the field: Senior Nycole Koyano made her 179th career start in the game, but for the first time started at a position other than second base (shortstop) … junior Brittany Vanderink made her first start of the season at second base.
– Weather: Clear and 66 degrees at first pitch. Very light breeze in from left field.
– Ohio State is now 16-0 all-time against Robert Morris. All but two meetings have come at Buckeye Field in Columbus, with both neutral site meetings coming in Florida (Miami in 2000).
– Robert Morris has 13 letterwinners back from its 2006 team that went 26-19 and tied for first in the Northeast Conference.
