Showe Wins 1-Meter at NCAA Zone C Qualifier – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State diving squad qualified another diver for the NCAA championships at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich. Four Buckeyes now have qualified for the meet.
One-meter Big Ten champion Burkley Showe (Fr., Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) captured another title on the board when he posted a score of 730.00. The score was 67 points ahead of the next competitor. Wes Wieser (So., Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) also qualified for the NCAA championships when he claimed the bronze with a score of 661.65.
Nick Hanneman (Sr., Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) also competed in the finals portion of the 1-meter event. His totaled 646.45 points to finish in seventh place. Senior Kellen Harkness (Puyallup, Wash./Cascade Christian), who qualified for the NCAA championships on Friday, finished 31st.
On the women’s side, Julie Broms (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) competed on the 3-meter board. She finished ninth in the event with a score of 495.05.
Competition concludes Sunday, with preliminary action beginning at 11 a.m. and finals starting at 1 p.m. Both the men and women will compete on the 10-meter platform.
