– The game Saturday morning marked Ohio State’s final neutral site game of the regular season. The Buckeyes conclude their regular season neutral site schedule with a 13-8 record.
– Buckeyes at the plate: Junior Brittany Vanderink extended her current hitting streak to seven games, best on the team this season.
– Senior Megan Schwab hit her 43rd career double in the game, which are two shy of No. 2 on the Ohio State career doubles list (45, Stacy Roth, 1999-2002).
– Buckeyes in the circle: Senior Jamee Juarez is now 26 innings away from the Ohio State record for career innings pitched, held by Katie Chain with 677.1 innings from 2000-03.
– Sophomore Kim Reeder notched her first save of the season Saturday. She had two saves as a freshman.
– Buckeyes in the field: With a runner on first and no outs in the sixth inning, the Buckeyes turned their eighth double play of the season when pitcher Jamee Juarez caught a pop up bunt and threw to second baseman Brittany Vanderink covering first.
– Weather: 65 degrees and overcast at first pitch. Clearing and slight breeze right to left.
– Ohio State is now 4-3 all-time against San Diego State.
– Picked first in the Mountain West Conference in the preseason coaches poll, San Diego State returns six starters from its 2006 team that went 34-15 overall and 15-3 in the MWC and made the Aztecs’ third trip to the NCAA tournament.
