COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State (3-1 overall, 0-1 American Lacrosse Conference) women’s lacrosse squad completes a trio of road contests when the Buckeyes play at 12th-ranked Notre Dame (5-2) Wednesday and at St. Bonaventure (1-2) Sunday. Ohio State will face the Fighting Irish in Moose Krause Stadium at 4 p.m. while the Buckeyes will face the Bonnies at McGraw-Jennings Field at Noon. Last week, the Buckeyes played at Davidson coming home with an 8-4 victory.
A LOOK AT OHIO STATE
The head coach for the Buckeyes is Sue Stimmel. Ohio State is 3-1 on the season and 0-1 in the American Lacrosse Conference. Last Sunday, the Buckeyes won at Davidson, 8-4. Kristen Slahor (Jr., Ellicott City, Md.) has a team-high 23 points on the season with 10 goals and a team-high 13 assists. Kelly Haggerty (Fr., West Chester, Pa.) has 12 points with a team-high 11 goals and an assist. Jessica Patane (Jr., Farmingdale, N.Y.) ranks third in points with eight from eight goals. Bethany Carey (Jr., Eldersburg, Md.) leads the team in ground balls with 12. Laura Burke (Fr., Columbus, Ohio) ranks second with nine and Danielle Gibson (Sr., Springfield, Pa.) is third with eight. In draw controls, Haggerty has a team-high eight. Amanda Shimp (Jr., Endicott, N.Y.) ranks second with six and Kendall Gysin (So., Noblesville, Ind.) is third with five. Carey has a team-high seven caused turnovers with Gibson second with five. Natale Miller (Sr., West Chester, Pa.) and Burke are tied for third with four each. In goal, Kristen Gilwee (So., Hunt Valley, Md.) has four starts on the season (203 minutes) and a 3-0 record. She has a 7.36 goals against average and a .554 saves percentage. Joy DeMarco (Sr., Hudson, Ohio) has played in two games (36 minutes) and has a 0-1 record. She is averaging 8.26 goals against and has a .615 saves percentage. A LOOK AT NOTRE DAME
The head coach for the 12th-ranked Fighting Irish is Tracy Coyne. Notre Dame has a 5-2 overall record this season. Last week the Fighting Irish defeated 18th-ranked Yale, 9-7, in Florida and lost, 16-13, at 11th-ranked Syracuse. Caitlin McKinney has a team-high 33 points with 23 goals and a team-high 10 assists. Jillian Byers is second on the team in points with 30. She has a team-high 26 goals with four assists. Meghan Murphy and Lena Zentgraf are tied for third in points with 15 each. Murphy has nine goals and six assists while Zentgraf has seven goal and eight assists. Goalie Erin Goodman leads the team in ground balls with 18. Zentgraf and Shannon Burke have 13 each and are tied for second. In draw controls, Kaki Orr leads the team with 24. Burke is second on the squad with 13. Zentgraf is the team leader in caused turnovers with 10. Burke ranks second with nine. In goal, Goodman has started all seven games and has a 5-2 record. She has a 10.77 goals against average and a .462 saves percentage.
OHIO STATE – NOTRE DAME SERIES
Ohio State leads the series with Notre Dame, 6-5. The Buckeyes are 4-2 in games played at Notre Dame and have won the last two contests at Moose Krause Stadium. Last season, in Columbus, Notre Dame won, 13-6. The Fighting Irish took a 9-2 lead in the first half to secure the win. OSU’s Kelyn Laws scored two goals while KC Carter, Natale Miller, Kelly Kremer and Jessica Patane had a goal each. Notre Dame’s Crysti Foote had four goals in the game with Mary Carpenter and Heather Ferguson adding two each. In goal, Carol Dixon had the win for Notre Dame while Ohio State’s Kristen Gilwee took the loss playing the first half. Kim Hastings played the second half for the Buckeyes.
A LOOK AT ST. BONAVENTURE
The head coach for the Bonnies is Tony Zostant. St. Bonaventure is 1-2 on the season at play at Delaware Wednesday. The Bonnies had games against Albany and Siena cancelled last week due to weather. St. Bonaventure opened the season with a 13-10 loss at Oregon. The Bonnies defeated Vermont, at Oregon, 20-15 and lost at George Mason, 18-10. Brenna Houghton leads the team in points with 14. She has six goals and a team-high eight assists. Kimberly Ross is second in points with 11. She has a co-team-high of nine goals and two assists. Katelyn Faas has 10 points to rank third on the squad. She has a co-team high of nine goals and one assist. Molly Hastrich, with seven points ranks fourth. She has six goals and an assist. Robin Mason leads the team with eight ground balls with Katie Ormsbee second with six. In draw controls, Mason has a team-high 11 with Ross second with five. Ross leads the squad with three caused turnovers with Houghton, Lynsey Wagner, Meghan DePaul, Mason and Ormsbee tied with two each. In goal, Eboni Preston has started the three games (150 minutes) and has a 1-2 record. She has a 16.80 goals against average and a .354 saves percentage. Tori Waheibi has played in one game (29 minutes) and has an 8.16 goals against average and a .500 saves percentage.

This is the first meeting between Ohio State and St. Bonaventure.
SLAHOR HAS GAME WINNING GOAL AT DAVIDSON
Kristen Slahor scored two goals and added two assists in the Davidson game. Her second goal of the game, an eight meter attempt, was the game winner, putting Ohio State ahead, 5-3. She added a ground ball in the contest. For the season, Slahor has a team-high 23 points with 10 goals and a team-high 13 assists.
SLAHOR MOVES TO FIFTH IN OHIO STATE CAREER ASSISTS
Kristen Slahor, with two assists against Davidson, now has 46 career assists and has moved to fifth on the Ohio State career list. Slahor had been tied for fifth with Shannon Wilson (2000-03) with 44 assists. Ahead of her in the rankings are Mara Simpson (1996-99) with 49, ranking fourth and Laurie Rybak (1996-99) with 50, ranking third. In career points, Slahor is currently tied for 12th with 78 (32 goals, 46 assists). She is tied with Alexia Vogler (2003-06) who has 44 goals and 34 assists).
ZERHUSEN COLLECTS THREE POINTS OFF THE BENCH
Brittany Zerhusen (Fr., Sykesville, Md.) came off the bench to score a goal and added two assists against Davidson. She scored Ohio State’s final goal of the game against Davidson and assisted on two of Patane goals in the second half. This was Zerhusen’s second game of the season.
HAGGERTY HAS A TEAM-HIGH EIGHT DRAW CONTROLS ON THE SEASON
Kelly Haggerty had three draw controls against Davidson to give her a team-high eight on the season. She had a career-high four draw controls against Johns Hopkins. Haggerty scored a goal against Davidson to give her at least one goal in each game this season. Her 11 goals on the season is a team high.
CAREY IS THE TEAM LEADER IN GROUND BALLS AND CAUSED TURNOVERS
Bethany Carey picked up a team-high five ground balls at Davidson to give her a team-high 12 for the season. Her five ground balls against the Wildcats was one short of her career-high of six set at Robert Morris this year. Carey added two caused turnovers against Davidson for a team-high seven. The two caused turnovers equaled her career-high for the third time.
PATANE HAS THREE GOAL AT DAVIDSON
Jessica Patane scored three goals at Davidson last week and is third on the team in goals with eight. The three goals came in the second half against the Wildcats, the first to tie the score at three. She then had back-to-back goals to open up a 7-3 lead over Davidson.
GILWEE RECORDS HER SEVENTH CAREER VICTORY
Kristen Gilwee picked up her seventh career victory at Davidson last week and now is fourth in Ohio State career wins. She had been tied for fourth with Jamie Bauer (1997-99) and Nicole Morris (1997). Gilwee had a season-high 12 saves in the contest giving up four goals. Gilwee has started all four games this season and has a 3-0 record. She has a 7.36 goals against average and a .554 saves percentage on the season. In Ohio State career rankings, Gilwee is sixth in saves with 142, third in save percentage at .532 and sixth in goals against average with a 9.97.
SHIMP EXTENDS GOAL SCORING STREAK TO FIVE GAMES
Amanda Shimp scored the opening goal at Davidson to extend her goal scoring streak to five games. She has scored a goal in the last three games, had two goals at Robert Morris to open the season and had a goal against Rutgers to end the 2006 season. Shimp added three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover in the game against the Wildcats. Her three ground balls equals her career high for the third time.
HEAD COACH Sue Stimmel
Sue Stimmel is in her 12th season as the head coach for the Ohio State women’s lacrosse team. A 1984 graduate of Temple University, Stimmel is the only coach that the Buckeye program has had. She spent six years has the head coach of Denison prior to coming to OSU. Stimmel is 86-84 at Ohio State (12 years) and is 162-102 in her 18-year career. The 2003 season was her most successful with a program-high 14 wins, finishing the regular season ranked 11th nationally and making the school’s second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship, advancing to the quarterfinals. Her squad won the 2003 American Lacrosse Conference Championship and she was named the ALC Coach of the Year and was later named the 2003 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Regional Coach of the Year.
GILWEE SELECTED TO ALC PRESEASON TEAM
Ohio State women’s lacrosse Kristen Gilwee (So., Hunt Valley, Md.) has been selected to the 2007 American Lacrosse Conference Preseason All-Conference Team by a vote of the league’s five head coaches. Gilwee played in 13 games as a freshman, starting 11. She had a 4-7 record averaging a 10.94 goals against average and a .526 saves percentage. She was named to the 2006 second team ALC All-Conference Team. Ohio State was picked to finished fifth in the Conference by a vote of the coaches. Two-time defending NCAA champion Northwestern was picked to win their third ALC title in a row.

REVIEWING LAST WEEK
Ohio State 8, Davidson 4
The Ohio State (3-1, 0-1 American Lacrosse Conference) women’s lacrosse team outscored Davidson (0-7), 6-2, in the second half to gain an 8-4 victory Sunday afternoon at Richardson Stadium in Davidson, N.C. OSU’s Kristen Slahor contributed four points with Jessica Patane and Brittney Zerhusen added three each in the Buckeye victory. Slahor contributed two goals and two assists with Patane adding three goals and Zerhusen adding a goal and two assists. Wildcat Jen Crawford had four points in the game with three goals and an assist.
Ohio State opened the scoring in the first half with an Amanda Shimp goal at 20:51. Davidson tied the game at one with a Crawford eight meter goal at 13:40. A Slahor goal at 9:21 gave the Buckeyes a 2-1 lead. At 9:11, a Wildcat goal by Becky Horton, on an assist from Crawford, tied the game at two to end the scoring in the first half.
Davidson opened the second half at 23:11 with Crawford’s second goal to take a 3-2 lead. The Buckeyes then outscored the Wildcats, 5-0 to open a 7-3 lead. The Ohio State run began at 22:27 with a Patane goal to tie the game at three. Kelly Haggerty scored, with an assist from Slahor, at 20:48 gave Ohio State a 4-3 lead. Slahor contributed an eight meter goal at 17:40 to make the lead, 5-3. Patane, scored OSU’s next two goals at 8:06 and 5:48, both on assists by Zerhusen, to open a 7-3 lead. Davidson responded with Crawford’s third goal of the game at 1:24 on a Sarah Walter assist. The Buckeyes closed out the scoring with a Zerhusen goal with 50 seconds left on a Slahor assist for the final, 8-4 score.
Ohio State’s Kristen Gilwee, 3-0 on the season, took the win in goal making 12 saves while giving up four goals. Wildcat goalie Laura Johnson (0-4) gave up eight goals in the loss while making seven saves.
