Upperclassmen embark on community service and exhibition adventure
COLUMBUS, Ohio Miles Avery, Ohio State head coach and the upperclassmen of the men’s gymnastics team made a unique journey to Waikiki Beach in Hawaii Dec. 11-16. The seniors and juniors participated and a community service driven gymnastics exhibition connected with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. In addition, the Buckeyes spent time working with the Salvation Army as bellringers, coaching young gymnasts at Kokokahi Gym and immersing themselves into the diverse cultures found on the Hawaii islands.
The student-athletes had six days to explore Waikiki, Oahu, the third-largest inhabited Hawaiian island, while them continued to train for the upcoming 2008 season. Ranked fourth in the preseason coaches poll, Ohio State opens the season at the Windy City Invitational Jan. 12 in Chicago, Ill.
